GQ Law’s first office was established in Cebu Business Park in Cebu City in 2012, with Atty. Pablo John F. Garcia and Atty. Ramsey M. Quijano as founders.
Atty. Garcia graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Law and ranked 4th in the 1993 Philippine Bar Examination. Atty. Garcia’s practice areas include corporate, criminal, and civil Litigation, negotiation, intellectual property law, government contracts, public-private partnerships, and taxation. Atty. Quijano, on the other hand, graduated from the University of San Carlos and was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1996. He obtained his master’s degree at Ernst Thälmann Institute in Berlin, Germany. Thereafter, he attended the American Institute for Legal Education in Michigan and Harvard Law School in Cambridge, USA to pursue further studies. Atty. Quijano’s practice areas include general litigation, criminal law, family law, and special projects.
The success of the firm in Cebu paved the way to expand its reach thus, a decade after, an office was opened in the Makati Central Business District.
The Senior Partners in Manila are Atty. Rolando A. Cruz and Atty. Marcelo Y. Fernandez, Jr., who both graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2002 and 2006, respectively. Atty. Cruz’s expertise includes real estate law, taxation, corporate, criminal, and civil litigation, intellectual property law, corporate rehabilitation, public-private partnerships, and negotiation. Meanwhile, Atty. Fernandez’s practice mostly includes maritime labor law, mergers and acquisitions, banking, finance, construction, foreign investments, securities, and corporate rehabilitation.
